Getting There:
By air: Glasgow International Airport is 13km west and 25 minutes by bus or taxi from the city centre. The Glasgow Flyer bus services runs from the airport from the city centre and a return journey costs £6.20.
The city is also served by Glasgow Prestwick Airport, 48km south. The train journey to Glasgow takes around 50 minutes. If you're travelling to or from the airport and show your flight information, you'll receive a half price discount on your ticket.
By train: A regular train service connects Glasgow with a large number of UK destinations. There are two main railway stations in the city: Glasgow Central Station and Queen Street Station.
By bus: There are frequent bus services available from the Buchanan Bus Station (Killermont Street), connecting Glasgow with around 1,200 locations across the UK and also 25 countries in Europe.
Getting Around:
On foot: A lot of the main shopping streets in Glasgow city centre are pedestrianised, making it easy to stroll around the heart of the city. From there, it's also easy to visit some of the city's main attractions on foot.
By subway: The subway system only has two lines, the Inner and the Outer, with stations located close to most of the main attractions. The system is easy to follow and trains come at regular intervals.
After 9.30am you can buy a discovery ticket that costs £2.50, which can be used on as many journeys as you like all day until the last train.
By bus: FirstGlasgow is the city’s main bus operator, with over 1,000 buses running on 118 routes throughout the city and in the Greater Glasgow area. On the main routes, buses come along every 10 minutes or so.
A day ticket costs £3.20 and can be used in all zones all day until 1am.
By taxi: Taxis can be hailed down across the city and the prices are very reasonable. One of the main taxi ranks in the city centre, used by the black cabs, is located across from Glasgow Central Station’s main entrance.
